I'm Max. Originally from London, I recently moved to a small town in Provence where I'm surrounded by some really great roads and trails. I've always loved to work with my hands and framebuilding was an inevitable destination, combining the two things that come to me most naturally.
I want to share a bit about my approach towards framebuilding, and the kinds of frames I like to build.
The challenge is that it's difficult to put into words exactly what makes up the core of my framebuilding philosophy, but I'll try! I think it's important for me to get across my ethos to guide your decision making and to understand mine.
I like to build frames that get used. I wouldn’t say utilitarian as that implies function over form. I like to create something that the owner doesn't see as too precious to use. Each time you get on the bike you think, “what a cool bike I have” and it motivates you to ride.
My bikes give me a warm feeling inside when I think about them, how much ground I've covered on them and all the experiences I've had while riding, good and bad. I want to inspire this feeling in the people who ride my bikes.
